Safety is something that matters all over the world (even the North Pole) along with all times of the year (not just Christmas).

GFI's are placed within 6' of anywhere there could potentially be water. Kitchens, Bathrooms, Garages, Basements, and yes, outside.

Just because the receptacle you are looking at doesn't have the center "Test" or "Reset" button doesn't mean it is not protected. Take the time to identify these plugs around your house.
